FIDM│Fellow in Insurance Data Manager

The FIDM designation is IDMA’s highest professional honor—recognizing individuals who have made significant, lasting contributions to the advancement of data management and data quality within the insurance industry.

This distinguished recognition is awarded to experienced leaders who demonstrate a deep commitment to the profession through their work, thought leadership, and active engagement within IDMA and the broader industry. FIDM recipients are not only experts in their field—they are champions of innovation, mentors to others, and trusted voices shaping the future of insurance data.

Eligibility & Selection

FIDM is a self-nomination process. Candidates submit an application with supporting materials to IDMA for review, with final selection determined by the Executive Committee.

To be considered, applicants must demonstrate:

  • Extensive industry experience — A minimum of 10 years in data management and data quality assurance
  • Commitment to IDMA — At least 3 years of active membership and meaningful participation
  • Professional and organizational impact — Contributions through conferences, presentations, publications, committees, and leadership roles
  • Broader industry engagement — Active involvement in other professional associations and industry initiatives
  • Relevant credentials or expertise — AIDM, CIDM, or equivalent certification (or comparable professional experience)

Distinguished Contributions

FIDM candidates must demonstrate meritorious contributions that advance the profession, such as:

  • Leading innovation in data management and quality practices
  • Advocating for the value and importance of data within the industry
  • Contributing through research, education, publications, and presentations
  • Mentoring and developing the next generation of data professionals
  • Serving in positions of leadership and influence within the insurance industry

Recognition & Endorsement

FIDM candidates are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional integrity and ethics. Each application must be supported by at least three professional recommendations, including at least one from an active IDMA member.
