The Chicago Chapter of IDMA meets twice a year (June/July and October/November)
and . At these meetings, there is typically a presentation and a
discussion of insurance data management issues.
For those unfamiliar with the meeting structure, discussions are
quite informal and are geared towards audience interest and participation.
To get the ball rolling and focus discussions, a list of topics
for discussion is provided below. Topics of discussion are very
fluid and can change during the meeting, provided they involve data
management, are in keeping with IDMA guidelines, and are of interest
to participants.
The Fall 2008 meeting of the Chapter was held on November 7 at
CNA Headquarters in Chicago. Here are some of the topics that were
covered:
- The changes transpiring in IDMA examination procedures (i.e.,
electronic tests and immediate automatic scoring.
- The impact of the recently passed "Financial Recovery Package"
on the insurance industry. Possible regulatory and reporting changes
were discussed, including whether this would affect Sarbanes-Oxley
requirements.
